Meet Our Founder
Our founder, Ratih Hardjono, is a public affairs expert with 25 years of experience. After completing her studies at the University of Sydney, Australia, she worked for 14 years as an international correspondent in Sydney for Kompas, one of Indonesia’s largest daily newspapers. She was also awarded the prestigious Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University, making her the only Indonesian woman to receive this honor.
In 1999, Ratih Hardjono joined the campaign team for Abdurrahman Wahid. Following his election as Indonesia’s fourth President, she served as Presidential Secretary, managing the presidential staff and the seven presidential palaces. During this time, she established Indonesia’s first civilian presidential office since 1965 and introduced press freedom within the palace, granting open access to all media personnel for direct interaction with the President.
In 2000, Ratih Hardjono became the Program Coordinator for Information and Public Relations at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Indonesia. She later continued her career at PT Indo Pacific Edelman and PT APCO Indonesia as a public affairs specialist before founding her own public affairs firm, PT Mirah Sakethi Consultancies, in 2004. In 2005, she also played a key role in founding the NGO Komunitas Indonesia untuk Demokrasi (Indonesian Community for Democracy – KID), which launched the School of Democracy (SD) in eight regencies across Indonesia.
